The International Defence and Aid Fund (IDAF) was established to support individuals and groups opposed to apartheid in South Africa and other forms of political repression in Southern Africa. It provided legal aid, published newsletters and bulletins, and supported the families of detainees and political prisoners.

Scope and content
This issue of Focus (no. 92) covers political trials, detentions, and the struggle for the reincorporation of the Bophuthatswana bantustan in South Africa during late 1990 and early 1991.
